Chennai acts as an entry point to southern India, but it also makes an interesting stop for a day or two at the beginning or end of a trip. Mainly shaped by the British, Chennai (formally Madras), is a bustling city with sometimes soaring heats. It is, however, scattered with some interesting museums, the old Fort St George, and Chennai Central Railway Station. Chennai in more recent years has become incredibly cosmopolitan, with luxury hotels, chic restaurants and expensive boutiques popping up regularly. This probably won’t be the most exciting city, but if you do have a day to spare, it’s certainly worth a look.
