Once the capital city of Bundela, Orchha is now a simple and serene village, nestled within a complex of well-preserved palaces and temples. Orchha was founded in 1531 and its golden age was during the first half of the 17th century.   Orchha’s most admired Palace is Jahangir Mahal that was built when the Mughal emperor, Jahangir, visited the city in 1606. It an impressive size, with an ornate ceremonial gateway and exquisite turquoise tiles. There are also great views of the countryside from the upper levels.  Our tour also includes the nearby Raj Mahal, home to some superb murals; Dinman Hardaul’s Palace; the Lakshmi Narayan Temple; Sunder Mahal and Chhatris.
