Located in Jaipur’s upmarket Civil Lines area and dating back to the 1940s, Barwara Kothi is a colonial homestay with glorious gardens and airy tasteful interiors. Run by Deepala and Ombala Singh, the property feels homely, welcoming and historic; the walls are adorned with wonderful photographs and the floors doted with antique rugs. Old colonial properties are often dark in India but we found Barwara Kothi full of natural light. The property is clean and spacious with modern bathrooms, sharp walls and comfortable beds. The only negative is the main road that runs past the property, but few guests find this an issue. Please note they do not serve lunch, there are however plenty of restaurants nearby. We feel this is a lovely, clean and comfortable place to stay, and ideal for those who don’t need 5* comforts.
