The Poovath Heritage is a wonderful renovated 150-year-old Dutch house that is now a 10-room boutique hotel. It’s well located, just a 10-15 minute walk to most of Fort Cochin’s historic sights. Like most of Cochin’s historic hotels, Poovath Heritage has a quirky and unconventional layout that we love, and this means all rooms are slightly different. Expect wooden floors, colourful walls, beautiful bathrooms and thick wooden beds with crisp sheets. The lower categories, such as the Standard and Deluxe Rooms, are a little on the small side so we recommend the Superior and Sea View Rooms if your budget allows for it. There’s the benefit of a pool and a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Please note The Poovath Heritage, like many properties in Kerala, doesn’t have a license to serve alcohol. Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to be consumed only in the rooms.
