With 162 rooms, the Radisson Blu Temple Bay is a little larger than most of the hotels we recommend, it is however one of the best hotels in Mahabalipuram. The hotel is a mere 5-minute drive from Shore Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and just 1.5hrs from Chennai International Airport. The hotel sprawls across 44 acres that snuggle up to the coast and at its centre is a large meandering pool. There are several restaurants to choose from including The Wharf, a speciality seafood restaurant that enjoys views of the Bay of Bengal and Shore Temple. Rooms vary is size and style but expect spacious rooms, tasteful furnishings and modern bathrooms. If your budget allows go for the Sea View Chalets or Sea Villas as these have fantastic views. There are also plenty of activities including golf, cycling, surfing and deep-sea fishing so is a good option for families. The downside is that the beach is very narrow, so most people spend their time around the two pools.
