Sitting in the heart of Tanjore, close by to the Royal Palace compound, lies Tanjore Hi. It’s a small, simple and stylish boutique property with only 15 rooms. All of the 15 Deluxe Rooms have the same facilities but they vary slightly in size and shape; the building was originally a colonial home dating back to the 1920s so it’s full of quirks. The rooms are arguably a bit dark but they are full of artistic character, with crisp white sheets, smooth modern furniture and sleek bathrooms. Shutters open up to the outside world and a spiral staircase leads you the restaurant upstairs; this serves both Indian and Continental food. There’s no pool but despite this we think Tanjore Hi provides fantastic value for money, and finally a bit of style in Tanjore.
