Overlooked by the mighty Kanchenjunga mountain range high in the Himalayas, Glenburn is a completely idyllic boutique tea planter’s bungalow set within a working tea estate. Established in 1859, Glenburn is now home to four generations of tea planters. The main house is the restored tea planter’s bungalow with four suites and a wonderful veranda offering staggering views of out to the Himalayas. Snuggled into the hill is another newer bungalow with a further four suites, a cosy lounge and a log fire. The suites are wonderful and tasteful with hand-embroidered bed linen and beautiful wooden beds. They all have walk in rain showers and views out to the gardens or hills beyond. Glenburn is a wonderful place to enjoy the spectacular views, appreciate the beautiful gardens or even enjoy a book in front of the roaring fire. For those who are more active there are a variety of hikes; ranging from one hour to an entire day, there’s something to suit everyone. We also recommend heading out into the tea estate to learn all about the process of growing and picking tea. We feel Glenburn is one of India’s finest converted tea bungalows and being just an hour from Darjeeling makes it easily accessible.
