Perched on the banks of Lake Vembanad in Kerala’s backwaters, Phillipkutty’s Farm is an independent and family run homestay, as well as working organic farm. Officially a homestay, Phillipkutty’s Farm offers slightly more privacy than other homestay options in the region as guests stay in beautiful independent waterfront villas. These feature carved wooden doors, beautifully tiled floors, solid wood beds and antique style furniture. Each room has an outdoor veranda, which is the perfect place to read a book and watch local boats leisurely pass by. Food is definitely one of the highlights here; everything is bought locally or grown on the family’s farm and meals are served with other guests in either the family dining room or outdoors in the courtyard. Phillipkutty’s is the ideal place to unwind at the end of a tour, but it’s also a fantastic option for those who are more active with boat trips, bird watching and cookery classes on offer too. We think it’s a wonderful option.
