Kandath Tharavad dates back to 1794 and is the ancestral home of Mr Bhagwaldas, your host. With just a few simple air-conditioned rooms, Kandath Tharavad is not aimed at those who like hotel luxuries; it is arguably one of the simplest properties we use. What it lacks in luxury it does make up for in charm and authenticity. Expect locally cooked Keralan food, carved teak pillars, village walks, basket weavers, sun downers on the lawn and visits to pottery artists. Due to the design the property gets dusty and in the evenings food is served with other guests. It’s not for the fussy traveller, instead it’s for those want to experience a bit of the real Kerala and don’t mind socialising with other guests.
