Located approximately 15 minutes from UNESCO protected Brihadeeswarar Temple, the Ideal River View Resort provides a relaxing respite from the dusty temple complexes of the Chola heartland. It sits at the end of a narrow lane and is perched on the banks of the Cauvery River, a haven for bird life. The property boasts 42 rooms; these are all the same category offering at least a partial river view. The hotel is by no means luxurious but rooms are spacious with brightly coloured feature walls, wooden floors, private sit out areas and en-suite bathrooms. Some are a little dated but are perfectly comfortable. There’s a good size pool, a large open sided restaurant and an Ayurveda centre. For an extra charge guests can use the bicycles to explore the local area. This is arguably one of the best hotels in Tanjore, which has few options.
