Run by the reputable CGH Earth group, Palais De Mahe is one of Pondicherry’s most popular hotels. It’s located in the heart of the French Quarter and is within walking distance from the famous Promenade. With just 18 rooms the property feels intimate and elegant, with a cool pool at its centre. Its arches, ochre colonnades and oversized doors transport you back in time, despite the hotel being recently built. All of the 18 rooms are the same; think king-size carved wooden beds, tiled floors and modern bathrooms leading off the main open corridor. Upstairs you’ll find a wonderful open sided restaurant that serves both Indian and Continental food. We feel this is one of the best hotels in Pondicherry and as a result it books up very quickly. We highly recommend booking far in advance to secure it.
